Zamalek Issues Official Statement Regarding Zizo's Situation
Zamalek Club has issued an official statement clarifying its position regarding the team's star, Ahmed Sayed Zizo.
The statement from Zamalek reads as follows: "In light of the steadfast principles that the Board of Directors of Zamalek Club, headed by Captain Hussein Labib, has been dealing with in all the thorny issues since taking office before the end of 2023, and in commitment to the transparency that the club's management maintains with its loyal fans, and to avoid prolonging the period of silence in the face of the chaos that envelops the football scene in general, the club clarifies these facts."
The statement continued: "The Zamalek management has dealt with the contract renewal file for the player Ahmed Mustafa Mohamed Sayed, known as (Zizo), with complete seriousness and a desire to renew according to the club's policy and the financial amounts that maintain the stability of the football team, and as an actual application of the principle of fair play, not just a slogan without action."
It added: "The Zamalek management is not responsible for the decision of other parties despite agreeing on more than one date for a negotiation session that was not completed due to flimsy excuses that confirm the lack of genuine desire or intention from the player and his father to reach a final agreement. Therefore, we announce that the player will not be part of the team after his contract ends, as the relationship between him and the club has reached a dead end."
The statement continued: "It has been decided to refer the player Ahmed Mustafa Mohamed Sayed for investigation due to the offensive media statements against the club, which contained misleading information and did not reflect the significant benefits the club has provided to the player since signing with him in 2019."
Furthermore, it stated: "The Zamalek management announces that any player, no matter his name and importance to the team, will not have a place at the club if he negotiates officially with another club and reaches an agreement with them. This decision is non-negotiable, no matter the cost, because Zamalek is rich with its players, and history bears witness to that."
The statement concluded: "Regarding the renewal of the contracts of the rest of the team players and new season reinforcements, Zamalek has a specific policy that it adheres to within a framework that guarantees the interest of the club and the appreciation of the players together. Soon, this file will be closed, and the results will be announced transparently."
Finally, the statement emphasized: "Those who think that the silence of the Zamalek management in the past days will make it retract its commitment to apply the penalties related to the last summit match without change are mistaken. The silence was motivated by the desire to avoid entering into disputes and methods far removed from sports integrity, and we confirm Zamalek's ability to handle the current situation in a way that preserves the dignity and status of Zamalek Club."
