There is confusion within the board of directors of Al Ahly regarding the future of Marcel Koller, the team's head coach, and his continuation at the helm during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
According to sources, there is a trend led by Mohamed Ramadan, the sporting director of Al Ahly, to hire a new coach, while president Mahmoud El Khatib prefers to retain Koller and not make changes at this time, especially before the Club World Cup.
El Khatib believes that any new coach would not be familiar with the team's capabilities before the Club World Cup, especially with the pressure of local and continental matches.
Thus, there is indeed a division and confusion within Al Ahly's management regarding Koller, especially since the club might change him and face a loss against Sundowns from South Africa in the African Champions League.
The Swiss coach will lead Al Ahly in the upcoming match against Pyramids, as scheduled, which will take place in the second round of the decisive stage of the Egyptian League.
