Borussia Dortmund star Emre Can spoke to the press following the 4-0 loss against Barcelona in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

Can said: "We didn't perform well, it was a bad match, we failed in the duels, and we weren't good in defense, we made some mistakes and were punished for them."

He added: "At this level of competition, it's hard to make mistakes even if they are minor, that's why we ended up with this result."

He continued: "In some moments we played well and created some chances, and when we played the fundamentals of football, we posed a threat to them."

He pointed out: "At this level, you have to play well, we knew that Barcelona defends high, and we should have retained the ball sufficiently. Unfortunately, we didn't succeed that day. Overall, our performance wasn't good, and Barcelona was at a high level."

He concluded: "It's tough to play against players like Yamal, Raphinha, and Lewandowski. They are fantastic players, but you can only face them as a team. I believe we could have performed better even against players of this level, but yes, there should have been stronger confrontations; we didn't play aggressively today."
