Bono: Our goal is to reach the furthest stage possible in the Club World Cup
Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bono of Al Hilal expressed his honor in representing his Saudi team in the upcoming edition of the Club World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States.
Al Hilal will participate in Group E of the 2025 Club World Cup alongside Real Madrid, Pachuca from Mexico, and Salzburg from Austria.
In his interview with FIFA's official website, Yassine Bono stated: "It is a great honor for us at Al Hilal, as a club and as players, to participate in the first edition of the Club World Cup, and we hope to deliver a performance worthy of Al Hilal."
He added: "The Club World Cup features some of the best clubs, including Real Madrid, and we must not forget Pachuca, as well as Salzburg, who are in our group with us."
He continued: "I have faced Real Madrid many times, and I have several friends at the club, and I used to meet their fans in the streets of Spain."
He further stated: "My matches against Real Madrid always carry mutual respect, I have faced many big teams in my career, and it is an honor for me that Real Madrid is one of them, just as it is a great honor for me to do so wearing the Al Hilal jersey, which is a well-known club worldwide."
Regarding his assessment of Al Hilal's group and chances of advancing to the next round, he said: "In modern football, there are no easy matches, and in a tournament of this level, no match will be easy."
He continued: "Our goal is to reach the furthest stage possible, and in addition to being a Moroccan player in the World Cup, the aim is to reach the furthest point I have never reached before (referring to Morocco's qualification to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup)."
On the possibility of facing Atletico Madrid or Wydad Casablanca in the Club World Cup, he said: "Honestly, I hope not to face them (laughs), but I wish them the best achievements and reaching the highest levels."
He concluded: "In the Arab world, we know the value of the fans well, and we at Al Hilal understand the importance of their presence in the World Cup, and major clubs want to reach more fans in such a tournament. We have fans on different continents, and our participation in the World Cup is a positive thing for them."
