Monday 07-04-2025
Spanish media reports have revealed new developments regarding the future of Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong, a star at FC Barcelona, amid rumors linking him to moves to several European and Arab clubs.

According to the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," De Jong has made his final decision, informing his agent Ali Dursun of his desire to renew his contract with Barcelona, which expires in the summer of 2026.

The newspaper confirmed that the 27-year-old De Jong is not currently considering any external offers, whether from Liverpool, Manchester United, or even Saudi league clubs, noting that his only goal is to continue with Barcelona and contribute to building a new project under coach Hansi Flick.

The Dutch star wishes to be a leader for the team in the coming years, especially after regaining his form this season, which enhances his status within the Catalan club.

The newspaper stated that Barcelona's management prefers to postpone renewal negotiations until the end of the season, as the club is currently focused on competing in the league, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey.

However, despite this, De Jong has shown complete clarity regarding his position, confirming that he does not intend to leave for free after his contract ends, in respect of Barcelona's significant investment in acquiring him in 2019 from Ajax, for 75 million euros plus 11 million in variables.
