Mendy Upset with Derby Match Referee
Edouard Mendy, the goalkeeper for Al Ahli Saudi FC, expressed his displeasure with the referee following the match against Al Ittihad that took place yesterday, Saturday.
The match between Al Ahli and Al Ittihad, part of the 26th round of the Saudi Pro League, ended in a 2-2 draw.
Mendy stated in television remarks after the game: "I think we played a good match and performed well, especially in the first half."
He continued: "But in football, you have to score when you get the chance... because if you don't, things can turn against you, and that's what happened today."
Regarding the officiating, he said: "I don't want to talk about the referee; these things happen often... we need to focus on winning on the field without assistance."
He concluded: "The only thing I want to say is, if foreign referees make such decisions, I don't understand why we don't play with Saudi referees!"
