French star Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid's forward, revealed new details regarding the behind-the-scenes of his lengthy negotiations with the royal club, affirming that the special relationship he had with the club's president, Florentino Perez, was a significant factor in his decision to join the Merengues.

Mbappe stated in comments reported by "Mundo Deportivo": "It wasn't easy, but the truth is that I had a good relationship with the president from day one. Even when I told him I decided to stay at Paris Saint-Germain, he continued to show me affection and sent me kind messages, and that meant a lot to me."

He continued: "My family was also overwhelmed with this affection, which is very important to me. There were always positive messages, and that made the difference."

He added: "That's why I have great respect for him. I told him that I would do everything I could for the club and for him as well, to make Real Madrid fans happy."

Real Madrid successfully signed Kylian Mbappe during the summer of 2024 on a free transfer after the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, and Mbappe's current contract with the royal team extends until June 30, 2029.
