Javier Tebas Criticizes the Decision of the Higher Sports Council
Saturday 05-04-2025
Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, expressed his strong opposition to the decision of the Higher Sports Council, which refused to annul the registration of the duo Dani Olmo and Pau Victor in the FC Barcelona roster for the 2024/2025 season.

La Liga had submitted official documents confirming that FC Barcelona violated financial fair play rules, indicating manipulation of financial documents that were used to register the players. However, the Higher Sports Council rejected this claim, affirming Barcelona's position and allowing the players' registration to continue normally.

Tebas stated: "After hours of calm analysis of the decision of the Club Monitoring Body, I would like to express my disagreement with the approach taken in the licensing case of FC Barcelona."

He added: "I see the decision to annul the agreement of the Monitoring Committee as legally disproportionate, and I say this as a man of law. La Liga rejected the initial visa through the president of the league, in accordance with the procedures adopted and officially recognized by the Higher Sports Council for several seasons now."

Tebas concluded his remarks by reaffirming La Liga's position and defending its legal powers, stating: "We will continue to defend our powers and procedures, not out of institutional pride, but from a sense of responsibility towards Spanish sports."
