La Liga Association Protests Against the Higher Sports Council's Decision and Threatens to Escalate

Thursday 03-04-2025
The Spanish La Liga Association announced its rejection of the Higher Sports Council's decision, which approved the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor with Barcelona, emphasizing that it will file an official appeal before the administrative court.

The association confirmed in its official statement that the Monitoring Committee of the Coordination Agreement between the Spanish Football Federation and La Liga acted in accordance with the established rules for player registration, stressing that the clubs' monitoring body does not have the legal authority to cancel or extend licenses.

La Liga's statement read: "The Higher Sports Council's decision lacks legal basis, as it was not made following the correct procedures, and we will continue to defend the laws established in the competition."

The association criticized the swift decision in favor of Barcelona, considering that it threatens the integrity of the competition in La Liga, also noting that the licenses of Olmo and Pau Victor automatically expired on December 31, 2024, and there was no need to officially cancel them.

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona continues to benefit from the Higher Sports Council's decision, ensuring the continued registration of the duo with the first team, while the Catalan club's management awaits any legal developments that may arise due to La Liga's appeal.
