Simeone: Atletico Competes Strongly, and We Will Continue to Fight Until the End

Diego Simeone, the head coach of Atletico Madrid, expressed his sadness after his team's exit from the Copa del Rey following a 1-0 loss to Barcelona at the Metropolitano Stadium, but emphasized that the team is still in a strong battle on all fronts.

Simeone said: "We did not perform in the first half as we had hoped, but it wasn't so bad that we need to apologize. In football, there are moments when the opponent is superior, but in the second half, we showed brilliantly and almost equalized. One cannot expect complete control against a team like Barcelona; we must accept reality and continue competing."

The Argentine coach stressed the need to maintain the same spirit in other competitions, saying: "The team is competing well in all tournaments, and we will continue to work with the same seriousness. Now, we will fully shift our focus to La Liga, and starting Friday, we will begin preparations for the match against Sevilla."

In response to a question about his team's ability to keep up with the top teams in La Liga, Simeone highlighted the club's development, stating: "I have no doubt that Atletico is in continuous development. We have signed wonderful players who are performing strongly, and we have succeeded in competing vigorously in the Champions League, La Liga, and the Copa del Rey; this is an undeniable fact."

Simeone explained the difficulty of playing against Barcelona and praised his team's performance: "Barcelona could have scored more goals, but we managed to respond strongly in the second half and faced them courageously.
