Report: Ancelotti's Four Mistakes Against Sociedad

Real Madrid booked their place in the Copa del Rey final for the current season at the expense of Real Sociedad, after winning the first leg 1-0 and then drawing 4-4 in the second leg.

Madrid qualified for the final after a tough battle and were very close to being eliminated from the tournament, as they were trailing 3-1 until the 80th minute before scoring two late goals in the second half.

The royal team managed to snatch the qualification ticket after scoring the equalizer in the second extra time, advancing to the final by taking advantage of their first-leg victory.

However, Real Madrid did not deliver the expected performance, especially in defense, and the choices made by Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti were a reason for the team's displayed performance.

Here are Ancelotti's mistakes in the match:

1- David Alaba as a Starter: Starting Alaba in the starting lineup was a grave mistake by the Italian coach, as the player was returning from a long injury, in addition to the difficulty of the match where Sociedad was looking to achieve an upset and came very close to doing so. Moreover, the player was responsible for Sociedad's second and third goals.

2- Camavinga at Left Back: The Italian coach surprised everyone by relying on Camavinga at left back, and the player did not perform as required in this position, especially in the defensive aspect, while the coach had Fran Garcia who has been performing well recently.

3- Vazquez at Right Back: As usual, Vazquez did not perform well defensively and was responsible for Sociedad's first goal, as the team showed significant shortcomings on the right side which Sociedad exploited several times.

4- Late Substitutions: Although the Italian coach saw his team struggling defensively and in midfield, he waited until extra time to acknowledge the mistakes he made in the lineup, as he substituted Rudiger for Alaba and then brought on Fran for Camavinga, later adding more energy to the team by introducing Diaz and Güler.
