Liverpool Owners Target Acquisition of Spanish Club
Saturday 29-03-2025
Fenway Sports Group, the owner of English club Liverpool, is looking to expand its investments in the world of football, as it is currently exploring the possibility of purchasing Spanish club Malaga, which is positioned 15th in the Spanish second division.

According to The Athletic, a delegation from the group visited the facilities of the Spanish club last February to assess the acquisition opportunity, focusing on the major shareholder Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani.

Malaga has been facing a financial crisis since being placed under administration in 2019, making the club an attractive option for the investment group, which sees it as a club with a rich tradition and significant growth potential.

The newspaper reported that discussions are currently ongoing regarding a deal worth £83 million, with Liverpool owners closely monitoring the developments of the negotiations.
