Bayer Leverkusen has clarified the situation regarding their Spanish coach Xabi Alonso, with the club's sporting director Simon Rolfes confirming that the coach will remain with the team for the next season, thus ending speculation about his potential departure.

Alonso's contract with Leverkusen runs until 2026, but his name has been linked to a return to Real Madrid to succeed Carlo Ancelotti in leading the royal team.

In press statements, Rolfes said: "Xabi Alonso is staying, there is nothing else, he has a contract with us," adding: "We are in constant communication regarding all our plans for the current and upcoming seasons, this is the situation."

It is worth noting that Alonso has led Leverkusen in 132 matches, achieving victory in 87 matches, drawing in 28, and suffering 17 defeats, continuing his success with a team that is competing strongly this season.
