Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, has stirred controversy once again, this time confronting Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Real Madrid, over his stance on the five-substitution rule, pointing out the contradictions in the Italian coach's statements over the past few years.

Tebas shared on his X platform account Ancelotti's statements from September 18, 2020, when he was coaching Everton, in which he said, according to Sky Sports: "In my opinion, three substitutions are enough to change the course of the match, as for making five substitutions, I don't know, but I believe it could change the intensity of the match. I understand the desire of some to make five substitutions, but if we need to rest a player due to the pressure of matches, we can exclude him from the starting lineup.

However, Tebas did not stop at this statement but showcased Ancelotti's subsequent remarks reflecting his changing stance over time. On September 19, 2021, after the match between Real Madrid and Valencia, the Italian coach said: "Making substitutions is complicated because I change my mind a lot, but everyone who came on as a substitute performed brilliantly. With five substitutions, we have an advantage because we have high-quality players.

Tebas also cited another statement made by Ancelotti on August 29, 2022, after the Espanyol match, where he said: "When the match stops, if you have energy on the field, you will use it. The five substitutions are beneficial for us because we have fast and strong players to exploit the spaces.

Tebas concluded his post with a sarcastic comment, saying: "The dynamics are good," referring to Ancelotti's changing stance on the issue of substitutions over the years, which Tebas considered a point worth noting amid the ongoing controversy between them.
