André Villas-Boas, the president of Portuguese club Porto, revealed the reason for selling Brazilian player Galeno to Saudi Al Ahly.
Galeno joined Al Ahly in the last winter transfer window from Porto for 50 million euros, according to media reports.
Villas-Boas stated in remarks to the Portuguese newspaper "O Jogo", as quoted by Saudi "Al Youm": "Galeno is an excellent player and was one of our top scorers."
He added: "However, his performance in the last period before his transfer did not match his capabilities, and he did not deliver the level we were accustomed to, which is why we decided to sell him."
According to "Transfermarkt", Galeno played 11 matches with Al Ahly, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists.
