Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, confirmed that the team wasted several chances against Ethiopia in the match that ended with the Pharaohs winning 2-0, which took place as part of the fifth round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Hossam Hassan said in statements to the media center of the Football Association: "We play to win in any match, and the most important thing is the three points and leading the group."

He added: "We are waiting for the fans to support the Egyptian team against Sierra Leone."

He continued: "Football in Africa is changing, and smaller teams are developing, and I thank the players for their great effort in the match."

He went on: "The Ethiopian team showed a strong performance, and we wasted more than one clear chance if it weren't for bad luck."
