Branko Ivanković, the head coach of the Chinese national team, expressed his regret over the loss to the Saudi team by one goal to nil in the match that took place on Thursday evening, as part of the seventh round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Ivanković said: "We came to Saudi Arabia with a clear idea and a specific plan, and we aimed for a positive result, but the red card we received significantly affected the course of the match."

He added: "We tried to pressure the Saudi team in the first half, and we somewhat succeeded in that, but the red card in the second half changed everything. Nevertheless, we cannot deny the great work done by the opponent."

The Chinese coach continued: "I can say that the Saudi team is very cohesive and has a distinguished group of players both technically and tactically; they have the ability to control and manage matches intelligently."

He added: "Despite the loss, I commend my players for the great fighting spirit they showed throughout the match."

He concluded his remarks: "Saudi Arabia is one of the best teams in Asia, and I congratulate them on their victory. We will work hard to correct mistakes and prepare for what is to come."
