Hossam Hassan: Salah Deserves to Lift the Africa Cup of Nations

Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Egyptian national team, confirmed that Egyptian star Mohamed Salah deserves to lift the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Egyptian team will meet their Ethiopian counterpart tomorrow, Friday, in the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Hossam Hassan stated in remarks to Reuters: "It's time for Mohamed Salah to lift the Africa Cup of Nations."

He added: "Salah deserves it wholeheartedly. The competition is tough, but we are capable of winning."

He continued: "He is a wonderful player and deserves his current position. Having him with us is fantastic. All team members, led by Salah, are doing their utmost to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the Egyptian people."

He clarified: "Qualifying for the World Cup and winning the Africa Cup are both extremely important, and winning the Africa Cup of Nations after a long absence would be a fantastic achievement for the national team, especially for this distinguished generation that deserves it."

He added: "The presence of Salah and Marmoush in the biggest clubs in the world and their outstanding performance is wonderful, and it gives the national team greater strength."

He remarked: "Of course, they will face significant challenges in the Africa Cup of Nations due to the pressures, but they have become more experienced and skilled in dealing with these pressures."

He concluded: "Marmoush is a talented player. He has worked very hard throughout his career in Europe, which he rightfully earned by moving to one of the biggest clubs in the world."

He continued: "I am confident in his success in the upcoming period, and he scored a hat trick against Newcastle United in the English Premier League in February, which gave him even more confidence."
