Former Al Ahly Star: Ashour Should Have Been Included in the National Team
Ahmed Adel, the former Al Ahly star, confirmed that Imam Ashour, the star of Al Ahly, was worthy of being included in the squad for the matches against Ethiopia and Sierra Leone in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Adel stated during the "Box to Box" program on the "etc" channel: "Al Ahly defends its rights through regulations and laws, and the summit match should have been played, and Al Ahly was (crushed) in the middle due to the lack of coordination between the Clubs Association and the Football Association."
He added: "It is not fair to have foreign referees in the Zamalek and Pyramids match while refusing foreign referees in the summit match."
He continued: "Imam Ashour was the best in the Egyptian league in the past period, leading the league table, and he deserved to be in the national team alongside Omar Gaber, the Zamalek player, especially since he has become an influential player with his team."
He concluded: "The fans are the primary supporters of the Egyptian national team, and it is important to rally around the team, whether with Hossam Hassan or others."
He added: "I advise Imam Ashour, you are doing well, but you should avoid any statements against the coaching staff of the Egyptian national team, and I hope that the coaching staff is run personally and that there are no personal accounts."
