According to the Spanish newspaper 'Marca', the Catalan club has begun negotiations to extend Szczęsny's contract, with Deco, the sporting director, having preliminary discussions with the player's agent, amidst a mutual desire to continue cooperation between the two parties.

Barcelona is considering extending Szczęsny's contract for an additional year with the possibility of extending it for another year based on certain variables, while a two-year renewal option is not ruled out, as negotiations are still in their early stages.

For his part, coach Hans Flick supports the continuation of the Polish goalkeeper, having given him confidence as a primary option over Iñaki Peña, as Szczęsny has proven his worth with outstanding performances throughout 2025.

Conversely, Barcelona's management is leaning towards keeping the goalkeeping duo of ter Stegen and Szczęsny for the upcoming season, which reduces the chances of Iñaki Peña's continuation.
