Is Al Ahly SC Joining the Roshn League?
Khaled El Ghandour, the former Zamalek star, responded to a question about the possibility of Al Ahly SC withdrawing from the Egyptian Premier League to play in the Saudi Roshn League.
El Ghandour said via "On Sport FM": "This talk is laughable. Egypt remains the owner of the strongest league in the region, whether we agree or disagree, as our local competition has the best players."
He added: "The proof is that Al Ahly and Zamalek have previously defeated clubs from the Saudi league, despite the latter having distinguished professionals, and this proves that football is not just about money."
He continued: "We cannot see Al Ahly participating in the Saudi league or Al Hilal being present in the Egyptian league; each club has its own popularity and fanbase in its country, and these matters do not change."
He concluded his remarks: "In the end, it is a tournament and it will pass as it has happened before when Zamalek withdrew from the summit match, and despite the controversy surrounding the situation, the crisis passed and ended."
Al Ahly threatened to withdraw from the league and did not attend the match against Zamalek last Tuesday, and the red team was considered withdrawn.
The crisis arose due to Al Ahly's refusal to play the match against Zamalek with Egyptian referees.
