Mohamed Fadl Discusses the Possibility of Canceling the League Championship
Mohamed Fadl, the former Al Ahly star, commented on the possibility of canceling the league championship this season following the crisis of the summit match.
Al Ahly refused to play the summit match against Zamalek last Tuesday with Egyptian referees, demanding to postpone the match and bring in foreign referees.
Mohamed Fadl said via On Sport Radio: "Surely, Al Ahly is relying on certain positions, events, and legal matters."
He added: "Will the league be completed? Yes, the cancellation would be nonsense. I want everything to be good and to have regulations and laws regardless of anything else."
He continued: "Al Ahly will present its legal position with its legal justifications; Zamalek and Pyramids will continue, but some clubs will be affected, but that’s it."
Regarding Al Ahly's withdrawal, Fadl said: "There will not be relegation to the second division due to withdrawal. We won’t see this, because football in Egypt is about popular clubs."
