Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos appeared in press statements after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, winning on penalties against Liverpool after a 1-1 aggregate draw.

The defender said in his remarks: "Watching the match from the sidelines was extremely difficult (after being substituted), and this shows the value of the team. We played a wonderful match; we deserved this qualification in both legs."

He added: "There is no competition. Football doesn't always give credit to those who deserve it. I'm happy that we succeeded today because we truly deserved it; it's a special day for us, winning here with such a small team, one of the smallest teams in the Champions League."

He continued: "Everyone, the staff, is doing a great job. I'm very happy. There are no limits, but we must always improve and not stop here. This match could have been a final, but we are in the round of sixteen, and there is still a lot of work to be done."

He concluded: "On Sunday, we will face Marseille at our stadium. We have no time; we need to recover to win the next match."
