Enrique: Both Teams Deserve to Qualify, Donnarumma Played the Role of Alisson
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique spoke to the press after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, defeating Liverpool on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate draw.
Enrique said: "Both teams deserve to qualify; they played better than us here, but I believe my team at Anfield, in a special stadium, showed great character and spirit."
He added: "We tried to give our best, but it was difficult due to their intensity; they showed great character and spirit, even when we were taking penalties."
He continued: "I think this clearly shows the level of the team we are."
He emphasized: "When the draw placed us against Liverpool, the coaches had a similar opinion - one of the best matches to watch in Europe. I think both teams were fantastic."
He stressed: "It's not about consistency; you have to be great at specific moments. We suffered a lot in Paris, but that's football. It's unfair at times. Today we were lucky; they hit the post several times."
He concluded: "Donnarumma was like Alisson in the first match."
He added: "We are happy and confident in our ability to qualify for the next round."
