
Statement from Zamalek Regarding Its Position on the Cairo Derby Match
Al Ahly issued a statement a few hours ago announcing its insistence on postponing the match against Zamalek in the Premier League scheduled for today, Tuesday, at 9:30 PM Cairo time.
Al Ahly is also insisting on bringing in foreign referees to officiate the match.
Zamalek issued a statement shortly in response to Al Ahly's announcement, confirming its desire to play the Cairo Derby against Al Ahly.
The statement from Zamalek reads:
The Board of Directors of Zamalek Club, headed by Captain Hussein Labib, affirms that the club will play today's match at the previously scheduled time, firmly rejecting any attempts to postpone it to a new date, regardless of the justifications.
The Zamalek Board also announces its refusal to change the refereeing team that was announced yesterday, Monday, by the Football Association, in accordance with the regulations announced before the start of the season, and Zamalek insists on refusing to delay the match time by 60 minutes.
Zamalek calls on the relevant authorities responsible for Egyptian football to apply the regulations to all parties in pursuit of the fairness we always strive for.
