Zamalek Clarifies Its Position on the Upcoming Cairo Derby
Zamalek Club has revealed its stance regarding the upcoming Cairo Derby against its traditional rival, Al Ahly, scheduled for this evening, Tuesday.
This comes after a statement from Al Ahly, which called for the match to be postponed in order to appoint a foreign refereeing crew to officiate the game, threatening to withdraw from the Egyptian league if their request is not met.
Ahmed Salem, the official spokesperson for Zamalek, wrote on Facebook: "In a few hours, Zamalek will head to Cairo Stadium to face Al Ahly according to the official schedule for the second round of the league."
Based on this, Al Ahly may face administrative penalties and other sanctions if the team fails to attend the match on time, or if the involved parties do not agree on a solution that satisfies everyone.
