The Spanish club Barcelona bid farewell to team doctor Carles Menyaro as he was laid to rest after his passing last Saturday, just before the match against Osasuna in La Liga, which was postponed due to the tragic incident.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport," club president Joan Laporta and goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen led the funeral of the late doctor, with an official presence from the club's management.

Due to the team's busy schedule preparing for the match against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League today, Tuesday, many players and club members were unable to attend the funeral.

FC Barcelona requested a minute of silence from UEFA before the match against Benfica in the round of 16 of the Champions League, which UEFA approved in honor of the late doctor’s memory.

The match between Barcelona and Benfica will take place today, Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 7:45 PM Cairo time and 8:45 PM Mecca time, as part of the second leg of the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League.

It is worth noting that the first leg match between FC Barcelona and their opponent Benfica ended with a victory for the Catalan club with a score of 1-0.
