Motta: The defeat is harsh, and we will not talk about the title race

The head coach of Juventus, Thiago Motta, made important statements to the press following the 4-0 defeat against Atalanta in the 28th round of the Italian Serie A.

Motta said: "We knew that the match wouldn't be easy after the penalty, which may be a subject of controversy, but I don't want to criticize it. We tried to push forward, but Atalanta exploited the counterattacks excellently. We are a young team, and we were mentally affected after the first goal."

He added: "We feel sadness and disappointment; there will be no more talk about competing for the Scudetto. Now we have to focus on the future and move forward."

Regarding the difference between the first and second matches against Atalanta, he said: "It was a completely different match. After the first goal, we made technical mistakes while trying to push forward, which gave Atalanta the opportunity to exploit the spaces. They are a strong team in offensive transitions, and we struggled a lot against them."

He continued: "The defeat is painful, but it is not at the same level as the loss against Empoli. We should have reacted better and maintained balance on the field."
