
Complaint from Modern Sport Against the Referee of the Zamalek Match
Modern Sport Club issued an official statement today, Saturday, against the decisions of the referee of the Zamalek match that took place yesterday, Friday, in the Round of 16 of the Egypt Cup.
Modern Sport lost to Zamalek with a score of 2-1, thus exiting the Egypt Cup competition.
The statement from Modern Sport read as follows:
Modern Sport Club "which is always keen on developing Egyptian football and its refereeing system" condemns what occurred in the match of its first football team against Zamalek in the Round of 16 of the Egypt Cup.
Modern Sport Club confirms that it is taking legal actions with the Football Association regarding its complaint against referee Abdelaziz El-Sayed due to the gross errors that contributed to Modern Sport's loss of 1-2.
Modern Sport Club emphasizes its total rejection of the major refereeing errors witnessed in the match, as well as holding the match without video technology, despite another match in the same tournament being held with the same technology.
Modern Sport Club calls on the Football Association, headed by Hani Abou Rida, to take the necessary measures to protect the rights of clubs, foremost among them Modern Sport, from the gross refereeing errors that have caused the club to lose many matches in the first round of the Egyptian Premier League for the 2024-2025 season.
Additionally, Modern Sport Club requests the suspension of referee Abdelaziz El-Sayed and urges for the selection of referees with international competence for the upcoming period due to its great importance.
Modern Sport Club, headed by Walid Daabess, affirms its full support for the Football Association and the refereeing committee and looks forward to cooperating together to correct the course in the upcoming period.
