Officially.. Fonseca Suspended for 9 Months
The French Football League has announced the suspension of Olympique Lyon coach Paulo Fonseca until November 29.
The Portuguese coach had verbally assaulted the referee during his team's match against Brest (2-1) in the French league last Sunday.
In the final moments of the match, the referee issued a red card to Fonseca, after which the latter violently confronted the referee.
The league has decided to suspend the coach for 9 months, in addition to banning him from entering the locker rooms and being present on the pitch.
The Portuguese coach is scheduled to return to the Lyon bench in January 2026.
