Alvarez: We Can Turn the Result Around in the Return Leg

Argentine Julian Alvarez, Atletico Madrid's striker, confirmed that his team's loss against Real Madrid 2-1 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 is not the end of the road, pointing out that a comeback is possible in the return leg, taking advantage of the home ground and the fans.

In his statements after the match, Alvarez emphasized that his team still has the opportunity to qualify, saying: "There are 90 minutes left at our home, among our fans, and we must seize this opportunity to play a great match and achieve victory."

The Argentine striker confirmed that Atletico Madrid will now shift its focus to the upcoming match in La Liga, before returning to prepare for the return leg, stating: "The difference is only one goal, but we must first think about our next match against Getafe on Sunday, and then prepare in the best possible way for the return leg, where we aim to deliver a strong performance at our stadium."

Alvarez discussed the match's events and the reasons for the defeat, saying: "We started the match behind with a very quick goal, but we managed to come back and equalize. At certain periods of the game, we controlled the play, but we knew the confrontation wouldn't be easy, especially since they were playing at home and have great players. Nevertheless, we believe that we have another 90 minutes to turn the result around."

Regarding his goal in the match, Alvarez commented: "It was a beautiful goal to equalize the score, and after that, we had some chances to score, but we couldn't capitalize on them. Now we need to continue working hard and prepare for the upcoming matches."
