Diaz: Happy to Make a Difference, but We Haven't Qualified Yet
Real Madrid star Ibrahim Diaz appeared in a press statement after the 2-1 victory against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
He began by saying: "It was a wonderful goal, an important goal for achieving victory, but the work is not finished yet. I am happy with the win and the character the team showed, and the Bernabeu played an important role. We know how to come back when we are in a tough situation."
He added about how he scored the goal: "It was a great goal, but I don't like to talk about myself. I received the ball, then dribbled past Gimenez and shot it into the net."
Regarding his ability to make a difference today: "We are great players and we can make a difference for the team. Rodrygo scored in the first half, then I scored in the second half. Everyone here can make a difference: Mbappe, Vinicius, even Bellingham who didn't play today. Today it was my turn to make a difference."
He continued: "I am happy to be able to make a difference, very happy that I can help the team when they need me. The most important thing is the team."
He concluded: "Today we came out with a good result and played a good match, as did Atletico Madrid. It is not over yet; we will enter the second leg with an advantage, but we have to give our best and be cautious."
