Thiago Motta expresses disappointment after cup exit
Thiago Motta, the head coach of Juventus, expressed his great disappointment after the team was eliminated from the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia against Empoli, confirming that he was angry due to the mistakes made by the players and that there was no room for such errors.
In a press conference ahead of the match against Hellas Verona in Serie A, Motta clarified that Juventus did not aim to exit the cup in order to focus on the league.
Motta stated: "We enter every match to win, and we will continue to give our best. There are 12 matches remaining in the league, and our goal is to earn three points in every game, through commitment, sacrifice, determination, and ambition. We must exert all our effort to deliver a strong performance both technically and physically, with great character."
Motta discussed the reasons for his anger after the loss to Empoli, noting that the team did not take responsibility as they should have. He said: "There is great disappointment from everyone. I was angry after the match because I know the players well and I love them, but we made unforgivable mistakes. We have played 39 matches this season, and we made mistakes that we should not have made."
He added: "I see the players daily, and I know their capabilities, but we were not up to the responsibility in the last match. We put ourselves in difficult situations, but we discussed everything in a positive and constructive manner."
The coach concluded his remarks when asked about his feelings of support from the Juventus management and players, answering decisively: "Yes."
