Fenerbahce Files Lawsuit Against Galatasaray in Support of Mourinho
Turkish club Fenerbahce announced its legal escalation against Galatasaray following the controversy that arose after statements made by Jose Mourinho, the team's head coach, which sparked widespread debate.
The crisis came after Fenerbahce and Galatasaray drew 0-0 in the 25th round of the Turkish league last Monday, where Mourinho stated after the match, saying: "Galatasaray's bench was jumping like monkeys."
As a result, the Turkish Football Federation decided to suspend Mourinho for 4 matches, in addition to imposing a financial penalty on him.
In an official statement, Fenerbahce announced its support for Mourinho, confirming that the Portuguese coach decided to resort to the judiciary to sue Galatasaray and demand financial compensation for the violation of his personal rights.
The club clarified that it filed a lawsuit demanding compensation of 1.907 million Turkish Lira, approximately £41,000, which is a symbolic amount referencing the year of Fenerbahce's establishment in 1907.
