Haaland: Winning is the Most Important Thing, and I'm Happy to Be Back Scoring
Norwegian star Erling Haaland confirmed that the Manchester City dressing room was filled with happiness after the hard-fought 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, emphasizing the importance of securing the three points.
Haaland said: "I am very happy; these are three important points, and that’s what we need at this stage of the season. We played a strong match, and it was important to win to continue competing for the title."
He added: "I think Jeremy Doku had a great match and deserved to create more goals today. The goal was good; it wasn't easy to anticipate the ball's arrival, but I was in the right place and took advantage of the slight deflection of the pass."
Regarding records, he said: "Of course, it’s nice to hear such numbers now, but when you are in the thick of it, you don’t think about them much."
He pointed out: "In my first season with City, everyone was talking about the record number of goals, but all I wanted was to win matches and clinch the league title."
He concluded his statements by saying: "Scoring goals is great, but it's not my primary goal. The most important thing is to achieve victory and help the team."
With this victory, City raised its points to 47, placing them fourth in the Premier League table, achieving their third win in the last five league matches, while Haaland continued his brilliance by reaching 20 goals this season, becoming the second player in Premier League history to score +20 goals in his first three seasons in the competition.
