Mido: Mahrez Can't Play as a Winger Now
Ahmed Hossam Mido, the former Zamalek star, criticized Al Ahly's coach Matthias Jaissle for relying on Riyad Mahrez as a winger.
Al Ahly is set to face Al Hilal next Friday in the 23rd round of the Saudi Pro League.
Mido stated on the program "Dourina Ghair": "If Al Ahly wins against Al Hilal, the team will secure finishing the season in third place and qualify for the elite AFC Champions League next season."
Mido criticized Jaissle, saying: "Mahrez cannot currently play as a winger in a big team."
He added: "Jaissle can utilize him as a second striker, thus reducing his defensive duties and benefiting from his attacking capabilities."
Al Ahly is currently in fifth place in the league standings with 44 points.
