Courtois: We haven't qualified yet, and we felt that we are better than them

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois appeared in press statements after beating Manchester City (3-2), in the first leg of the elimination stage of the Champions League.

The goalkeeper said in his speech: “Manchester City is an attacking team and it is better to win, even if it received goals, instead of ending in a 0-0 draw. penalty".

He added: "We were unable to continue the same performance that we presented at the beginning of the match, but the team knew how to interact and succeeded in winning a score of 2-3 because we believed ourselves, and we felt that we were stronger than them."

He added: "We knew that we had to improve after their second goal, but we felt in good condition on the field and we knew that if we scored, we would turn the result.

"They deal with the ball well and we had to press in an organized manner. We have done better in the second half, and this led to a change of the course of the match."

He concluded: "We have to continue this way to win next week in the second leg, because it will be difficult. We cannot say that we qualify for the next round."
