
Naingolan arrested on charges of involvement in drug smuggling
The Belgian authorities arrested Radja Naingolan, the former midfielder of the Cagliari team, Roma, and Inter Milan, this morning in Brussels, and charged with international drug smuggling from South America to the port of Antwerp.
The Public Prosecutor's Office in Brussels confirmed, via Public Prosecutor Julian Moinil, that Naingolan was arrested as part of a massive raid that included 30 inspections between Brukil and Antireb this morning, and the player's car was confiscated from his luxury home in Brussels.
Naingolan, who recently joined the Belgian club Lockerin in the second division, was absent from the team's training this morning, which raised questions inside the club, and after the spread of the news, Lockerin club issued a statement confirming the player's absence from training, noting that their focus is now on a match. The team against the Yubin Cup tomorrow, in which the player will not participate.
It is noteworthy that Naingolan had previously faced legal problems, as he was arrested in October 2022 while driving a car without a valid license, and his license was suspended in 2021 after his seizure was driven under the influence of alcohol at excessive speed.
For his part, the Ningolan lawyer stated that the investigations are still continuing, and confirmed that the case will not be commented in respect of the principle of the presumption of innocence.
