The owners of the English club Liverpool shocked the team's star, Mohamed Salah.

Mohamed Salah's contract with the Reds expires in the summer of 2025, and the two parties have not yet reached an agreement regarding the renewal.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, CEO of Fenway Sports Group, which owns Liverpool, spoke in statements highlighted by the British newspaper "Daily Mirror" about renewing Mohamed Salah's contract.

Hasselbaink said: “There are not many players like Salah who will play at the same level as him in the last year of their contract.”

He added: “If I were Liverpool coach, it is clear that I would want to keep the trio of Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.”

Hasselbaink confirmed that Liverpool's owners may see the matter differently, saying: "I will allow Salah to leave because of his age."

He continued: "You would have to pay him a huge amount of money and I don't think you can give a player of his age a three-year contract. Commercially, this is unsustainable and the best course of action for Liverpool is to see him go.”
